Facilitation — Fewer Meetings, Real Decisions
At its core, facilitation uses a specific set of skills and structured processes that help groups think, talk, and work together more effectively — a steady hand in the room when the stakes are high and the path forward isn’t obvious.
As a facilitator trained in the globally recognized Technology of Participation (ToP) methodology—developed by the Institute of Cultural Affairs (ICA)—I help your team navigate complex challenges and reach genuine, lasting alignment.
When done well, facilitation ensures:
- Genuine Inclusion: Every participant’s contributions are honored, preventing a few voices from dominating while welcoming diversity and minimizing polarization or conflict.
- Structured Synthesis: Individual ideas are quickly pooled into informative, inclusive, and useful patterns, allowing both structured and unstructured data to be dealt with efficiently.
- Long-Term Commitment: Authentic engagement ensures your team feels true ownership of the outcomes, so the plans you make lead to real, long-term change.
Proven Methods, Global Standards
My facilitation practice is built on the Technology of Participation (ToP), a powerhouse collection of structured methods used in over 50 countries by Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, and major international organizations like the United Nations and the World Bank.
These methods also “play well with others”—seamlessly integrating with and enhancing frameworks you may already use, such as Agile, Scrum, Lean, Design Thinking, and Six Sigma.
Whether you need a focused 2-hour alignment session or a multi-day strategic planning retreat, I design and facilitate structured experiences tailored to your goals. My core methodologies include:
1. Focused Conversations
Move from cross-talk to deep clarity. Instead of conversations that go nowhere, I use a structured reflection process that surfaces both the Rational (the practical goal) and the Experiential (the group’s inner impact, mood, and tone) by asking: What? Gut? So What? Now What?
2. Building Consensus
Turn endless debate into shared agreement. Avoid meetings where decisions feel impossible. Through a highly collaborative, integrated thinking process, we run structured consensus workshops to help your team align on a shared vision, set priorities, agree on decision criteria, and overcome barriers in a fraction of the time.
3. Action Planning
Fast-track execution and build trust. Perfect for short-term planning of an event or project that already has a degree of consensus. This process helps your team clarify directions, align resources, designate clear leadership roles and responsibilities, and build team trust.
4. Strategic Planning
Create a plan that actually gets executed. A comprehensive commitment (typically two days or more) to build a dynamic roadmap with concrete action steps that will not become “shelf-ware.” We undertake 4 distinct steps:
- Create a Practical Vision
- Identify and analyze Contradictions & Obstacles that could impede that vision
- Determine Strategies that deal with those obstacles
- Create a focused Implementation Plan
Flexible Delivery for Real Results
- In-Person or Online: All facilitation activities are fully optimized for both virtual and in-person environments.
- Custom Workshops: Facilitation can be seamlessly integrated with team development diagnostics such as Five Behaviors or Kolbe assessments to maximize team performance.
