Historically most wellness or employee development programs focus on only one or two areas of wellness, usually in areas of physical health. This is often in the form of education and training around workplace safety, basic fitness and nutrition. In some cases, resources are made available for stress reduction and mental health concerns, usually through separate programs, generally delivered by health care benefit providers or EAP companies.
Recently, many companies have begun to embrace the idea of coaching to improve employee performance and goal achievement. However, coaching is often only made available to senior level management. While Emotional Intelligence (EQ) and other team communication and development programs are also becoming more prevalent, these programs are generally focused on business related issues and again, often only provided to mid to upper level management.
Resolve Today programs are different because we are focused on long-term wellness success through holistic strategies that facilitate both individual responsibility and a supportive environment for change. This comprehensive approach to changing an individual’s, and often their entire team’s behavior, comes from the integration of leading strategies that address both the physical and mental components of total wellness. Mimicking the model of brain function, we categorize the core elements of the Resolve program into feel, think and do. Ultimately this deepens the learning in our programs and greatly enhances the likelihood for long-term success.
Our Approach: Feel
"Behavior change happens mostly by speaking to people’s feelings"
John Kotter, Harvard Business School
The thinking part of the brain is responsible for many functions that directly impact physical health such as rationalizing desires, validating new knowledge, determining what gets our attention, avoiding pain and repeating pleasure. The immune system, sleep function and sexuality are highly-linked to the limbic system, or emotional center of the brain.
In recent years, more attention has been devoted to the notion of EQ, or emotional intelligence. EQ is the product of personal competence and social competence. In other words, how aware we are of emotions, both ours and others, and how able we are to manage and influence those emotions. Resolve’s focus is primarily on self-awareness and self-management. We ask, "how accurately can you identify your own emotions and tendencies as they happen?" Can you manage your emotions and behavior to a positive outcome?
Unlike IQ, emotional intelligence skills can be learned and improved. The benefit to our clients is that optimal learning and behavioral change occurs when stress is minimized, high self-esteem is encouraged and positive emotions are engaged.

Do
You can be intellectually-gifted and have a high degree of emotional intelligence, but still not accomplish what you want. The missing ingredient may be the doing, or action. This directs our energy towards problem-solving and decision-making.
The mental faculty of purpose or will is called conation. One of the leaders in conative research, Kathy Kolbe, has shown that people are most productive and satisfied when they are working in their instinctive mode of operation. It avoids stress and maximizes activities.
Resolve Today® clients may take the Kolbe A Index, a tool that identifies an individual’s natural abilities and modus operandi or MO for short. This is distinct from measures of emotion (affective) and thinking (cognitive), and is independent of race, gender, age or other criteria.
A person’s MO governs actions, reactions and interactions. Ultimately, it gives people the freedom to be themselves. Understanding and optimizing these creative instincts is what drives Resolve Todaysm clients to take specific steps, and achieve success with their wellness objectives.
