Wouldn't it be great if we only had to work on one problem at a time? What if all of our friends, family, co-workers, bosses and partners just knew how to stand in line and wait their turn? Nice idea huh? Of course our lives aren't like that at all. The good news is that when we're centered or at least know how to get back to center, we can deal with all sorts of issues more calmly, productively and sometimes, even with grace. I've found that my Aikido practice and the work of Conscious Embodiment has had a profound effect on my ability to deal with these "multiple life attacks" in the best way possible. This work is also a big part of my coaching practice and my clients learn how to use the wisdom of their body as well as their mind, to manage the stressful situations that come from so many areas of their lives. Attached is a fun and short video from my Black Belt test that illustrates this concept. The purpose of this part of the test is to deal with attacks coming from all sides and to address each attack as efficiently as possible without hurting any of the attackers. When you feel like you're going to get caught, you have to get back to center, remember to breath and most importantly, turn those hips! It's quite a dance and a great metaphor for life. Welcome your challenges in and acknowledge them and then deal with the situation as quickly and effectively as you can - because there's usually another challenge right behind the last one!
